What a Triple Arthrodesis Does
A triple arthrodesis fuses the subtalar, talonavicular, and calcaneocuboid joints to correct a fixed deformity and eliminate the painful, arthritic motion in the rearfoot. It is generally reserved for advanced, rigid flatfeet or significant arthritis, where joint-preserving procedures are no longer enough. Recovery involves a period of non-weight-bearing while the bones fuse, followed by a gradual return to activity — and for the right patient, the trade is a stable, far less painful foot.
