Your Feet Could Be Trying to Tell You Something
September 2 2025
When it comes to your health, your feet may be sending you important warning signs. Aching calves, cold toes, or a wound that just won’t heal are not just “signs of getting older.” These symptoms could be pointing to something much more serious: Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.).
What is Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.)?
P.A.D. occurs when fatty deposits build up in the arteries, reducing blood flow to the legs and feet. It is often called a “silent disease” because symptoms may be subtle — or brushed off as normal aches and pains. Unfortunately, if left untreated, P.A.D. can lead to severe complications including:
* Limb loss (amputation) due to poor circulation
* Stroke or heart attack from hardened, narrowed arteries
* Loss of independence and mobility
That’s why early detection is critical.
Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore
Your body has ways of telling you something is wrong. Common signs of P.A.D. include:
* Painful cramping in the legs or calves when walking
* Coldness in one or both feet
* Slow-healing or non-healing sores on the toes, feet, or legs
* Weak or absent pulses in the legs or feet
* Numbness or weakness in the legs
If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important not to dismiss them.
Why Early Detection Matters
Many people with P.A.D. don’t realize they have it until it’s too late. With timely diagnosis and treatment, however, you can protect your circulation, mobility, and overall health. At Family Foot & Leg Center (FFLC), our specialists are trained to identify P.A.D. early and create a care plan tailored to your needs.
Take the First Step Toward Healthier Legs
Don’t wait until symptoms get worse. Your feet may just save your life by warning you of this dangerous condition.
Remember: Healthy legs mean a healthier life.
